TRUST

Trust is a hard thing for anyone, but for a survivor of abuse, it can be especially difficult. Enjoy this poem I wrote.

You say everything’s for sure
And You’ll never have another
But I can’t seem to shake this fear
I know that pain all too well
This wall is begging to come down
But every time I think I’m fine
I give an inch it takes a mile
I’m jumping but I feel like I’m falling
Are you really going to catch me?
If I hit the ground into pieces
I’ll be dust there’ll be no reason
To mend my heart again
When he held it he didn’t know
It was the last time it could break
It shattered so unrecognizable
I still can’t believe
I was able to breathe again.
I have no trust to give
It was gone before you came in
How can I get it back
And If I do will you be true?
Can I trust you with this heart
If I can’t trust you with this pain
You don’t want the sins of another man
But the scars still remain
So I’m shaking in the corner
Heart shattered on the floor
God held it in his healing hand
And passed it on to you
Why can’t I let it go
Maybe I moved too fast
I should be able to trust in Him
That you’re the man for me
And I’ll never feel that pain again
But we’re only human
What if you can’t contain?
What if the lies creep in?
On who can I depend?
Lord don’t let go
If you loan out my heart
Make sure you never part
From me
Never part from me
Catch me if I fall
Catch me if he falls
If you cant help me understand
Give me peace that will surpass
Lord don’t let go
If you loan out my heart
Make sure you never part
From me
Never part from me
Catch me if I fall
Catch me if he falls
If you cant help me understand
Give me peace that will surpass
